For some reason, the more I see stuff on social media exposing celebrities’ true intentions and motivations behind the witchcraft they practice, the more I can only think about the Book of Revelations and that one Katt Williams interview with Shannon Sharpe. Of course, you are going to think, step one, I need to read my Bible, and yes, that is correct, but reading your Bible alone is not going to help keep you motivated as a christian in today’s world.
Practice gratitude
I’ve mentioned this many times on my podcast. Consumerism is at an all-time high, and the overconsumption of this type of media will lead to wanting more, looking for the next, or reevaluating what you already own.
Practicing gratitude and finding blessings in even the smallest gifts God provides throughout the day is one way to stay motivated.
The Israelites did not inherit the promised land in the Old Testament because they complained. Although not practicing gratitude does not mean you are complaining, the two strongly correlate.
Filter your consumption
I was reading the Bible all while still living lukewarm, and honestly, there is a difference between knowledge and wisdom. Wisdom is knowledge applied; knowledge is just being aware of things.
There is a trend going on right now on TikTok about women sharing their testimony pertaining to music. Some artist are actively putting witchcraft and spells into their craft. I know that we all have come to find some artists openly admit to being witches and yet still listen to their music. That is a dangerous game!
If you keep wondering why you are struggling with sexual sin, stop listening to sexual music, and you will see how much easier it becomes!
At one point in time, I was struggling with anger; once I cut back on rap music, I noticed I was not as quick to anger or as aggressive.
Consider doing a 30 day music cleanse to start and write down how you feel at the end of the 30 days!
Filtering your consumption goes beyond music and into areas like movies and TV shows, people, social media algorithms, food, and clothing.
Make new friends
Make new friends! I cannot stress this enough. Growing spiritually is like growing out of old clothes. Although you like that dress and might keep it, there should never be a goal of trying to get back into it. I’m not saying you must eliminate all your older friends, but your relationships will not be the same anyway.
There is no avoiding this, so to prevent any backsliding, actively make an effort to make new friends.
Your community is so important because they will be able to keep you accountable, encourage you, and inspire you to walk upright and in your purpose.
Let’s face it, with some friends you might find yourself constantly having to explain why you will not or do not feel comfortable doing certain things and after a while it will get annoying.
Study your Bible don’t get read it
Actually study your Bible! Growing up I did not go to Bible study because I feel that most non demonination churches do not do that during the week. They call it small group for adults. There is a difference between reading the Bible and studying it.
Although if you are not doing neither and you would rather start by reading it by all means, go for it!
The Bible I own is by She reads Truth and my virtual Bibles are from the Bible App and BLB.
Shre reads truth has bible study plans, also whenever you make those new friend you will be able to have bible study days with them.
