Mostly, they were just dates whenever I had a Valentine, and I did not have to get them anything. I know this may be controversial, but as a woman, most masculine men are not worried about you buying them Valentine’s Day gifts.
That type of man is only worried about you enjoying yourself with what they have planned.
If you want to give a gift, here are some great options:
Vintage or aged alcohol
This works for someone who likes to drink. For example, some older men like whiskey and would appreciate tasting niche-aged whiskey. Some men like to keep a stocked bar, and adding to that is always right.
A development book or class
If you have a man who likes to learn different things, you can purchase the course, class, or book for him to do so. Men traditionally are problem solvers, and this thoughtful gift will surprise him. I dated a man who loved trading, and a book about investing made him appreciative of me because it also shows that although I am not interested in his hobby, I care.
Fragrance
It’s always a safe option; most men like to smell nice. The good thing about purchasing cologne is that every budget has various options.
Check out my Valentine’s Day Fragrance gift guide for all budgets. Some of these are unisex and can be a great option for you to use when he is not looking. ( Shhh, you didn’t hear it from me)
Buy a man some shoes, and he will walk right out of your life
Someones Southern Grandmother
Clothes
I am a Southern woman, so you will not see shoes on this list. There is an old saying: buy a man a pair of shoes, and he will walk right out of your life. It is funny, but we all live by that. Clothes are a great gift, especially if he is into fashion.
If he goes into the office and wears suits for work, adding on to that can be a good idea.
Jewelry
Depending on how severe your relationship is, yes, I said it. It would help if you got jewelry pieces for your significant other. Some men love watches, a great gift they can wear daily.
Gift of service
The best part of service is that it is the most thoughtful gift of all. If your significant other’s love language is acts of service, this should be your go-to gift. Find out what your partner enjoys and provide that service for him. For example, if he is the one who cooks most of the time, he switches things up.
Open when letters
I’ve done this, and my boyfriend (at the time) loved it! We were a long-distance couple, and his love language was words of affirmation. At the time, we were in a long-distance relationship. I created over 20 letters for him to open whenever that prompt stated.
- Open when you need a hug
- Open when you are upset with me
- Open when you are hungry
- So on and so forth
I included little gifts in almost every letter, from gift cards, photos, and physical gifts; there was always a surprise.
Game day tickets
Does he like sports? Purchase some tickets for him to open for a later date. You can have them for you two or for him to bring a friend. You can choose from whatever is in season, like American football, hockey, etc.
Treat him to a haircut
Although men do not spend nearly as much on beauty maintenance, most tend to get haircuts. A great gift is to pay for one or a couple of his haircuts. You can even get creative and make coupons he can hand you whenever he gets a cut.
Car wash
Surprise him by taking him to get his car washed or detailed. If applicable, men often care deeply for their vehicles and their maintenance. If you surprise him with a freshly clean ride, I promise he will not see it coming.
