Whatever we consume in our physical bodies will show up in our weight, blood levels, and physical symptoms. There is proof that we experience the effects of what we indulge in.
The same can be said for our spiritual bodies.
In the spiritual realm, we experience the effect of what we indulge in, whether it is depression, anxiety, constant worries, or the longing to crave sinful acts. Even if you do not think they align, they do.
All we consume affects us. The music is where you will find the root of many problems you may be facing. In this post, you will learn the benefits of making secular music fast and listening to Christian music.
Popular genres music
- Pop
- Rap
- Hip hop
- R&B
- Folk
- Latin
- Soul
- Country
There are over 40 genres of music, but these are just a few. If you are anything like me, growing up, we listened to 90’s gospel with the choir in the back vocals. Artists like Kirk Franklin, Mary Mary, and Fred Hammond woke me up every Sunday morning and was my cue to clean the house. I never got to experience other Christian music genres that sounded good. So, when my love of rap grew, I turned to only secular rap and R&B.
Benefits of listening to Christian music:
Protecting your mind from demonic serenades
There was a Kanye interview a few years back, and he talked about the power of melodies and hertz that evoke emotion. Some songs have underlying beats to make you upset, whether sad or mad.
Increase your femininity
Female rap, although a good thing, has presented messages that are not feminine. On TikTok, I shared my love for the City Girls and how listening to their music made me quick to anger.
If the messages you are constantly listening to are about sex, drugs, fighting, and scamming. Your feminine energy will suffer.
Increase your motivation
Consuming Christian music that uplifts and praises God will give you peace. Worship is not only done in church. Understanding what worship truly is will help you whenever you crave listening to secular music.
Show gratitude to God.
Gratitude is being thankful and content with the blessings you have in your life and the sacrifice that God made for us to dwell with him again, even amid sin. Showing God how thankful you are for what he has done is the right thing to do and will open you up for more blessings.
Decrease the emotion of anger.
Depending on the song, it can evoke anger. If you’ve ever met a DJ, you’d know that they cannot play certain songs in specific venues. That is not a racial issue but an emotional one. Some songs evoke anger and the probability of fighting increases when played in crowds that are more than likely drinking.
